Aveshka is looking to hire an Exercise Planner to support the National Cyber Exercise & Planning Program (NCEPP). The Department of Homeland Security's National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) operates a 24x7x365 center at the intersection of government, private sector, and international network defense and communications communities. The mission to secure the cyber and communications infrastructure upon which our nation depends is a shared responsibility between Federal, State, and local governments, in active partnership with the private sector which owns approximately 85 percent of the Nation’s critical infrastructure. The NCCIC is responsible for coordinating national efforts to secure the Nation’s infrastructure and to provide a primary Federal contact for coordinating protection activities.
NCEPP operates as a program within the NCCIC’s Operations & Integration Division (O&I) to develop, design, and conduct cyber exercises at the Federal, state, local, tribal & territorial, regional, infrastructure sector, and international levels in order to assess and improve the Nation’s cybersecurity posture, preparedness, protection, and cyber-incident response capabilities.
NCEPP activities include the design, support, and execution of the spectrum of exercise types according to the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP), depending on the goals and objectives of each exercise’s primary constituency. These may include discussion-based exercises like: seminars, workshops, tabletops, and games or operations-based exercises such as: drills, functional, and full-scale.

The exercise planner will further collect and analyze data, recommend solutions and improvement strategies and present findings in final after-action reports suitable for distribution among executive level leadership. The right candidate will apply technical and operational expertise to complex problems in the field of Federal preparedness including, but not limited to, preparedness for terrorist attacks involving cyber threats. The candidate may also perform key tasks such as: conducting research, developing and delivering briefings, writing plans and coordinating training.
