    Aveshka is seeking an Emergency Management Specialist to help provide support to the operational administration, infrastructure and management preparedness activities of the OPHPR.

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - Office of Public Health Preparedness and Emergency Response (OPHPR) provides a variety of technical services in support of public health and emergency preparedness.  Their mission is to safeguard health and save lives by providing a flexible and robust platform for public health emergency response.



    • Understand Incident Command System (ICS) and CDC’s Incident Management System (IMS).
    • Develop emergency response plans, develop logistical and operational support requirements for response events.
    • Develop preparedness plans based on specific scenario events.
    • Work across public health organizations to garner support, exchange information, solicit recommendations, synthesize information, develop pros/cons, coordinate emergency response events, deployments, and resources.
    • Serve as a liaison to a specific area or territory and work with State, local or territorial staff to aid in the receipt and dissemination of response resources.
    • Develop operational needs, operating plans, develop logistical and operational support needs for response events.
    • Understand key aspects of State/local public health preparedness and response, including but not limited to: Community Resilience, Incident Management, Information Management, Countermeasures and Mitigation, Surge Management, and Biosurveillance
    • Work across public health organizations to garner support, exchange information, solicit recommendations, synthesize information, develop pros/cons for positions, and develop guidance documents or recommendations for community, state or federal leaders.
    • Work together with medical professionals and scientists in infectious disease outbreaks.
    • Writing justifications relative to response funding requirements, and projecting funding needs in response to public health events.
    • Provide as-needed 24/7 on-call support as part of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) emergency response efforts to include deployment.
    • Possess knowledge and experience in preparedness and responding to public health emergencies and response events, including infectious disease outbreaks, natural or manmade environmental disasters, and/or bioterrorist attacks.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, Advanced degree preferred
    • 5+ years of work experience related to the job description

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Familiarity working in remote office and/or multiple customer locations
    • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat
    • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilities
    • Highly resourceful team-player with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
    • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client servicer and response.
    • Ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
